Huck

Huck

About a month and a half ago, somebody dumped Huck and his brother Finn after hours at our shelter. To put it gently, they arrived looking like they had been through approximately 17 tax seasons and a divorce.

Malnourished. Parasite-infested. Half their hair missing. Their growth was literally stunted from how badly they had been neglected. Huck arrived with absolutely nothing.

Putting a Disaster Back Together

Rebuilding a pup from the ground up takes a mountain of love and medicine. Thanks to our amazing veterinary team and shelter staff, Huck underwent weeks of baths, treatments, medications, proper nutrition, and endless TLC to heal his body and soul.

From Dumped Shelter Dog to Private Aviation

Fast-forward to today, and this joker is standing at the airport looking around like: "Yes, hello. Huck. H-U-C-K. I believe my private aircraft is waiting."

This formerly dumped shelter dog did not leave in a Honda. He did not leave in a transport van. HUCK LEFT ON A PRIVATE PLANE.

Posing in front of his plane like he personally checked the oil and filed the flight plan.

If that isn't the most beautiful answer to the person who threw him away, we truly do not know what is. Somewhere along the way Huck apparently decided: "Oh, you thought I was disposable? That's adorable. My PILOT is here."

From dumped after hours to private aviation.
From half bald to frequent flyer.
From parasites to Pilots N Paws.
From "nobody wants me" to "please have the aircraft brought around."
To the former owner that dumped him: Your trash just flew first class.

It Takes a Village

We absolutely cannot take credit for this level of bougie without thanking the entire village responsible for Huck’s dramatic rise into the upper tax bracket:

  • Our incredible Pilots N Paws pilots: Thank you for donating your time, fuel, aircraft, and an entire day to one little shelter dog who now probably expects air travel everywhere.
  • Our partner rescue: Thank you for saying YES to Huck and giving him a foster-based rescue to call his own.
  • His new foster: We apologize in advance if he refuses to travel anywhere unless you have TSA PreCheck.
  • Carolyn Stout: Thank you for transporting our VIP directly to the airport.
  • Our veterinary team: Thank you for putting this little disaster back together.
  • Our volunteers, donors, transporters, and staff: THIS is what all those vet appointments, medications, baths, poop cleanups, paperwork, health certificates, and "how are we going to pull this off?" moments were for.
