WELL, WELL, WELL… LOOK WHO'S FLYING FIRST CLASS TOMORROW.
Remember Finn?
You know… the little half-bald, starving, pitiful creature who was dumped after hours at our shelter with Huck looking like they had just returned from a 6-month expedition through the wilderness with nothing but bad decisions and tap water?
Yeah. THAT Finn.
Apparently he has decided poverty no longer suits him.
And because Finn likes to be dramatic, he waited until KBIJ reopened so he could make his grand departure properly.
Our pilot Grover is picking up His Royal Highness in Blakely and flying him to meet his foster-based rescue.
The before pictures still make my heart hurt.
But LOOK AT HIM NOW.
Hair? Grew it.
Weight? Gained it.
Vaccines? Got 'em.
Personality? Unfortunately, yes.
Dog friends? Absolutely.
Cat manners? We're not discussing that without his attorney present.
And rescue?
SECURED.
Huck already got his big fancy freedom flight, and I just know Finn has been sitting here thinking, "Okay… so when is MY private jet arriving?"
Tomorrow, buddy.
Tomorrow.
FROM BALD & BROKE TO AIRBORNE & BOOKED.
Freedom Day update
A message from Finn
Dear prior owner,
Remember me?
The puppy you dumped after hours at an animal shelter so starved and neglected that my growth was literally stunted?
Yeah. That Finn.
Just wanted to send you a quick little life update from the AIRPORT.
Turns out, throwing me away wasn't the end of my story. It was just the part where my life finally started getting better.
I got fed.
I got healthy.
My hair grew back.
I learned what it feels like to be loved.
People donated to me.
People advocated for me.
A rescue said YES to me.
And today, an actual PILOT showed up with an AIRPLANE because apparently I am important enough for people to rearrange their whole dang Sunday just to make sure I get where I'm supposed to be.
So while you left me behind like I was worthless, I'm sitting on an airport runway in my fancy red harness waiting on my private flight to a brand-new life.
The irony is absolutely delicious.
TODAY IS MY DAY.
And just in case you're wondering…
I'm still sweet.
I'm still goofy.
My ears are still ridiculously large.
And somehow, after everything you did to me, I still trust people.
You didn't break me.
You just gave a whole army of rescuers, fosters, volunteers, vets, donors, transporters, and pilots the opportunity to show me what humans were supposed to be like.
So from Finn, sitting pretty on the tarmac, waiting to board his freedom flight:
Thank you for getting out of the way of the life I deserved.
Now excuse me.
My plane is here.
Happy Freedom Day, Finn.
Huge thank you to our pilot, our rescue partner and their foster that stepped up, as well as Carolyn Stout for always being able to get these babies to the airport no matter what type of curve ball is thrown in last minute she makes it happen.
Every flight starts on the ground.
Vet care, vaccines, food, and transport get dogs like Finn from intake to rescue. You can help the next one.
